“A Sunday Affair,” a feature film produced by Nigeria’s EbonyLife Media, will be released on Netflix on February 14.
Uche and Toyin, two best friends in Lagos, fall in love with Sunday, a charming but flawed eligible bachelor. A love triangle develops, with the women not realizing they are dating the same man.
Nse Ikpe-Etim (“Fifty”), Dakore Egbuson-Akande (“Fifty”) Toyin, and award-winning Oris Erhuero (“Road to Yesterday”) play Uche and Sunday, respectively. Alexx Ekubo (“Weekend Getaway”), Uzor Osimpkpa (“Fifty”), Chris Iheuwa (“Rattlesnake”), and Hilda Dokubo (“Accidental Affair”) round out the cast.
Netflix has a multi-title agreement with EbonyLife, whose “Blood Sisters” was a smash hit for the streaming service, with 11 million hours viewed since its debut in May 2022.
“A Sunday Affair” is an idea that’s been floating around in my head for nearly ten years,” said Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Media and executive producer. “The story has many layers of richness, which I love, and I hope audiences see this as an evergreen classic and watch it over and over.”
“We’ve had so many conversations about the complexity of love and whether it’s possible to love more than one person and love as much as the other,” Heidi Uys, creative producer at EbonyLife Media, added. With these incredible actors, this film redefines the phrase “it’s complicated.”
In collaboration with Mot & Chandon, EbonyLife Media will host the world premiere of “A Sunday Affair” in Lagos on February 12 as a Valentine’s Day special event.
