The annual celebration of Ghana Cinema Week, organized by the National Film Authority of Ghana (NFA), is set to kick off from December 15 to December 22.
Designed as a week-long initiative, the event serves multiple purposes, including boosting the viewership of Ghanaian films, fostering the growth of cinema culture in the country, establishing a sustainable distribution network for locally produced Ghanaian films, and providing a platform for business expansion. This year’s theme, “Electrified Edition,” promises to engage participants with a diverse selection of films and activities dedicated to the advancement of Ghanaian cinema.
Ghana Cinema Week traditionally showcases a curated collection of Ghanaian films in cinemas nationwide. During this year’s event, audiences in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale will have the opportunity to enjoy a lineup of Ghanaian movies, including titles such as “Tetteh Quarshie (Heroes of Africa),” “The Heroines,” “Single Not Searching,” “Our Wife,” and “Oguaman.” These films will be screened at various venues, including Silverbird Cinemas, Oyarifa Mall, The Page Centre, Platinum Bay Hotel, Gold Coast Restaurant, Royal View Cinema in Kumasi, and Radach Hotel in Tamale.
Beyond the film screenings, Ghana Cinema Week acts as a vibrant hub for diverse activities, creating enduring memories for attendees. Guests can interact with filmmakers and actors, fostering a conducive atmosphere for networking. The event also provides a platform for aspiring filmmakers to socialize and seek inspiration and guidance from established producers.
