Natives Filmworks and Michelangelo Productions are proud to present “Katangari Goes To Town”, an exciting new film that will debut on Prime Video on January 4, 2025. Directed by Reuben Reng and featuring a talented cast of Nollywood veterans and up-and-coming stars, the film delves into the complexities of Nigerian family relationships, with inheritance taking center stage.
Written by Emil Garuba, the story follows Katangiri (Segun Arinze), a retired police inspector turned vigilante, who is reluctantly called to Abuja to solve the mystery of his cousin’s murder.
His journey uncovers a tangled web of family secrets, betrayal, and suspense. Armed with his sharp intellect, a trusted rifle, and a unique sense of humor, Katangiri’s adventure is packed with thrills, surprises, and moments that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Shot in the vibrant city of Abuja and the tranquil landscapes of Jos, “Katangari Goes To Town” features an exceptional cast including Segun Arinze, Ireti Doyle, Munachi Abii, Sani Mu’azu, Bethel ‘Senator Comedian’ Njoku, Gbubemi Ejeye, and others. This film marks the eighth release in the First Features Project series.
Launched in 2021, the First Features Project has empowered 12 emerging filmmakers, offering training and resources to help them create impactful, locally-driven stories for theatrical and streaming platforms.
Previous films from the initiative include “Cake” (Prosper Edesiri), “Love and Life” (Reuben Reng), “It Blooms in June” (Korede Azeez), “A Father’s Love” (Sebastian Ukwa), “Kill Boro” (Courage Obayuwana), “At Ease” (Seun Richards), and “A Danfo Christmas” (Sebastian Ukwa). “Katangari Goes To Town”, directed by Reuben Reng, kicks off the 2025 slate of First Features films.
Beyond filmmaking, the First Features Project is leaving a lasting impact on the Nigerian film industry by fostering young talent. Through mentorship, hands-on training, and resources, the project is helping to shape the future of Nollywood’s next generation of filmmakers.
