March 8, nominations for the AREEL 2022 Rising Star Award were opened to the Ghanaian public, we received 27 long list nominations by the Ghanaian public. Our panel of jury voted and narrowed it to five (5)

Brian Angels is a Ghanaian actor; He is a lead actor in the remake of the classic Ghanaian detective Television series “Inspector Bediako”. He also played lead in “farewell to the wind” short film. Some of his notable productions include “Beasts of No Nation” featuring Idris Elba, “The Burial of Kojo” by Blitz TheAmbassador, “Like Cotton Twines” and “Forty and Single” series by Leila Djansi which are on Netfix. He is also featured prominently in Showmax’s Ghana first original series directed by Shirly Frimpong Manso.

Bless Fortune  is a Ghanaian actress, she has featured in a lot of great movies and acted alongside both young and veteran across Africa. Her role as Soraya in “Inside Out”, a drama series shown on Akwaaba Magic, DSTV was an impressive one, she won a lot of heart with her character role and was nominated in Ghana Movie Awards 2021 as best actress in the drama series. “Road To My Fathers’ Compound” is in cinemas now

 

Kobina Amissah Sam is a Ghanaian actor and Africa Movie Academy Awards Nominee for best actor in a supporting role in Beasts of No Nation (2015), after playing the role of ‘’Father” to the lead character “Agu” (Abraham atta) in the 2015 Netflix thriller dubbed “Beasts of No Nation”, has been featured in notable productions including ‘’The Burial of Kojo’’, ‘’Out of the village’’ Aloevera (2020) and Terminus (2021), among others.

Aaron Adatsi  is a Ghanaian actor, He got his first role in the movie The Good Old Days: The Love of AA in 2010. He won the award for the best drama series for his role in YOLO TV Series in the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards. He also boast of roles in numerous blockbuster movies. “Hashtag” (2018), “Aloevera” (2020), “Sidechic gang”,  “Road To My Fathers’ Compound” is in cinemas now. among others.

Alphonse Menyo  is a Ghanaian actor, his passion and determination led him to achievements such as Best Actor nomination in the 2020 AMAA Awards, winner of the Best Actor in the 2019 Ghana Movie Awards and the Best Actor at the 2018 Fickn Film Festival. Some of his notable productions include “Gold Coast Lounge” (2019), “Black Rose” (2016), “Freetown” (2015),” Utopia”,  among others.
